My Favorite Coffee Table Books

I don’t know about you…. but I looooove me a good coffee table book. Before the days of Pinterest and Instagram (i.e. college days) I used to basically use designer coffee table books like text books to learn the ins and outs of my design field. I STILL have books from designers like Victoria Hagan and Katie Ridder that are full of tabs on pages that inspired me or reminded me of specific techniques not to forget.

But I am assuming that most of you are not like me and do not design for a living, so in that case your coffee table books are probably mostly used as coffee table eye-candy. Am I right?! Don’t you just love flipping through a good one and being inspired right there on the spot? its such a refresh from scrolling on a screen all the time.

Although, interior coffee table books are always at the top of my list, I also love using books that highlight fashion and travel too. In addition, I have come across a few really funny books over the years that are now must-haves on my list too! One of those books is Upside Down Dogs (see pic below). We used it in a beach house that my clients rent when they are not there - it was a huge hit with guests! This book will make you fall in love with dogs all over again.

The key to styling a great coffee table, book shelf, console or end table is to have a variety of items - but I think beautiful books are a staple. Find books that speak to your style and what inspires you and then use those to decorate your space. Not only will they add to your decor but they will inspire you along the way too.

Once you have your favorite, beautiful, inspirational coffee table books squared away… try styling your coffee table with a variety of other items like trays, candles, and pretty trinkets. The idea is to create smaller vignettes within your space. I love using sea glass beads and coiling them up in a bowl or draping them across a stack of books. Another idea, If you are using candles, is to find a pretty match holder to display along with the candles.
